Friday evening I had the pleasure of attending the Veteran’s Day dinner at our local VFW post. We were treated to an excellent meal and a speech by a National Guardsman that had recently served in Iraq. He really gave an amazing first-hand account of what the life of a soldier is like on a daily basis.
I know everyone in our great country has their own personal views on the war. I honestly don’t care to debate that, but just wanted to remind you all that our living veterans today sure could use a kind word, a visit, or just a simple thanks for their time of service.
An organization I have been involved in since I was a small child that supports veterans, their families, and the community is the American Legion Auxiliary. So many women qualify for membership through the service of their fathers and grandfathers and don’t even realize it. If you’re looking for a way to make a difference, I would urge you to become involved with this organization. If you need more information, just let me know.
