And So It Begins…

Upon picking EB up from daycare today I was informed that the Valentine’s Day party for his class will be Thursday. Party? Huh? Oh, that party. The one that just got posted on the door today. Ok.

So, for this party we need 30 Valentines and some chips and dip. And, by the way, did I also know that we’re doing a fundraiser selling cookie dough?

Um, no.

I am slowly learning that part time daycare is becoming a full time job for Mommy. And he’s only 3, y’all!! This is seriously scaring me about what’s ahead. Of course, I don’t begrudge these fun things for him. It’s just Mommy wishes she had a little more notice and ALOT more energy right about now.

Ahhh, part time daycare at the full time price. Gotta love it.

llama momma is SO correct, it gets better. Just wait until your kid doesn’t sell enough candles/wrapping paper/GS cookies/Jump Rope for Heart crap and they miss out on the good prize. Ugh. Public school is pricey.

I know how you feel. I’ve got three in school this year and next year my youngest starts. I am in the process of putting together 90, yes 90, treat bags for Valentine’s Day parties. Plus, I have been asked to volunteer at 2 of their parties. Every holiday, I have to make the rounds to 3 different classrooms. I can barely keep up with these 3, I don’t know what I’m gonna do next year!

You should all just move the UK or Ireland. Here, at school or preschool the kids make one valentine card for the one they love – which is usually (and hopefully still is) us!

Older kids would send a card to someone they really like/fancy/have a crush on, but it is usually anonymous.

Really old people (like adults) just send a card to their one true love, unless you have been married for yonks and agree not to bother with the cards things.

So really the hassles only really start when teenage daughters are upset because they only got 2 cards, and their friend got 5!

I am enjoying hearing about yet another cultural diffence between us and our friends across the puddle:)

I have worked in childcare and taught school for years. I wish I could tell you the advance notices get better but they don’t. Good luck girl! I got to the point where I would put a calender out to help my parents unfortunatly most school don’t think of this.

I’m sure you’ve read my thoughts on the oldest one’s homeroom mom and her notices on parties. It irks my taters and pimping cookie dough is only the beginning… trust me.
