And He’s Really Useful, Too!

I normally don’t work on Friday’s, but today I filled in for someone and was pretty much on my feet all day. I wore a pair of wedge slip-on sandals because I thought I’d just be working half a day. Huge mistake, of course. I totally love cute shoes and all, but if you’re on your feet for most of the day AND chasing around a three year old, it’s just not practical.

After work EB and I went out to eat with my parents at a nice restaurant here in town. I was so relieved to finally be able to sit down and partially relax, because you know when you take a three year old out to eat, totally relaxing and enjoying your meal is out of the question.

Everytime we go out to eat EB immediately dives under the table when he is finished. Sometimes he crawls under there to “take care of business”, if you know what I mean. Ahem. But most of the time he’s just fiddling with the screws in the table. He likes to “fix” things, whether they need fixing or not.

So tonight when EB finished his meal, he headed straight under the table. The tablecloths were long, so I didn’t worry too much about him disturbing anyone. I was more worried he might be having his evening Constitution under there, but even that was not the case. Thank God.

No, he proceeded to remove my shoes, the ones that were killing me, and he starts squeezing my feet. And it almost felt like a foot rub, save for the little voice under the table calling out, “Mommy toes red!!”. For some reason, my toenail polish is utterly fascinating to him.

So tonight I got a FREE foot rub while eating a steak dinner. Y’all, it just doesn’t get any better than that.
