Wall-E Schmall-E

Last Saturday afternoon we took EB to see Wall-E. This was EB’s very first theater experience, so we were excited. OK, Cracked Daddy was excited…I was just nervous he was going to act a nut and disrupt people and then we’d have to leave and there goes $20-something dollars, not counting the cost of snacks.

But EB did ok. Much better than I expected, and Holy Chill Out, Mama! There were other kids there acting the same way because, DUH….it’s a kid’s movie!! I didn’t think about that minor detail beforehand.

I may be the lone dissenter, but I wasn’t super impressed with Wall-E. By the time it ended I felt like I had been watching one big long “Save The Planet” cartoon. Wall-E isn’t even cute, say, like R2D2. Or maybe it’s because I just don’t have anything for robots. Unless they’re from Star Wars…that’s sacred stuff. And you couldn’t understand a stinkin’ thing Wall-E said. You pretty much had to figure it out for yourself, and it wasn’t hard at all…just some normal dialogue would have been spectacular.

I’m chalking this one up to “but it’s the experience of EB getting to go to the movies that counts”.

That’s how we felt about Ratatouille or however the heck you spell that. I was looking at my watch thinking,”OKAY. Is this going to end soon?”

But, you are exactly right… it’s the experience that counts and now you know he can handle it. I highly recommend Kung Fu Panda.

we’ve really hesitated going to see this. we had a friend HATE it, and after our major disappointment with Ratatouille, I just couldn’t foresee throwing the money away. I agree, Kung Fu Panda is Great!

I agree on Wall E. That first half of the movie was L-O-N-G!!!

    I almost fell asleep.

But my boys loved it. And you’re right about the children’s movie thing. CHILDREN go there. It’s a wonderful place. :-)

You’re not alone, I’ve heard many say that it felt like an eternally long info-mercial. Maybe I can talk the kids in to waiting to rent it…

Oh great. I had a “date” planned with my 7 yo to go see this…maybe we need to rethink it?

I haven’t seen it or heard much about it. The first movie we took the child to, he wasn’t all that impressed. I had thought it’d be a Great Experience. To him, not so much.

I felt the EXACT same way! I thought that movie SUCKED big time! A political agenda under the guise of a kids movie. Luckily we saw it at the drive in and didn’t pay as much, but still!
