Our Fun-Filled Ship Island Experience

If you find yourself on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, taking a trip out to Ship Island should definitely be on your list of things to do.  Our family made our first ever visit to the island last Monday and it was definitely an experience we won’t forget and one we definitely look forward to taking again.  Located 11 miles south of Gulfport, MS, the island has something for … [Read more...]

Mississippi Poetry by Patricia Neely-Dorsey

I am always proud to tell people I’m from Mississippi.  There is a popular quote that says, “To understand the world, you must first understand a place like Mississippi”.  Mississippi proudly boasts some of the best musicians, writers, and artists, and I recently had the pleasure of connecting with Patricia Neely-Dorsey, a Mississippi author who so graciously shared with me two … [Read more...]

Busy May Weekend

I rarely take off work unless I’m really sick or E.B. is sick, but I always set aside two personal days in May to attend a couple of events at E.B.’s school.  With this school year seeming much longer than usual, it felt great to leave work Thursday afternoon knowing I had an extra day to spend time with my family. Thursday evening we headed to Lost Pizza.  Not only does … [Read more...]

Crosstie Arts & Jazz Festival- 2014

A couple of weekends ago we went to our town’s annual Crosstie Arts & Jazz Festival.  It’s exactly what it sounds like;  live jazz music, art of every medium for sale (clothing, jewelry, paintings,  pottery, wood, etc.) and many, many fabulous food vendors all on the court house lawn. In my teen years, this was just a fun event to hang out at and to “see and be seen”.   … [Read more...]

We have been on a few pumpkin patch field trips with the school, and while they were “ok”, I’ll just go ahead and make the bad mommy confession that sometimes those field trips bore me to … [Read more...]

Sesame Street Live- Elmo Makes Music Giveaway

I grew up watching Sesame Street and it still has a sentimental place in my heart.  I spent many an hour after school parked on my grandmother’s couch watching my favorite characters teach me about letters, numbers, and friendship.  I’m so glad Sesame Street is still around for kids to enjoy.     Sesame Street Live is a larger-than-life, musical … [Read more...]

There’s A Hurricane for Real, Y’all? #Isaac

Perhaps it’s because I’ve been cooped up inside all day with a seven year old with the stomach virus and suffering from lack of sleep, but it just occurred to me today that hurricanes really bring out the….I’m struggling here for a word because the ones I want to say sound too harsh….. “lack of logical thinking and reasoning” in people. I follow several weather and … [Read more...]
