Mother Essentials: Andrea Faulkner Williams of Tubby Todd
Written by Katie Hintz-Zambrano
It’s a beautiful thing to grow up beside a fellow mama—especially when you’re raising babies and businesses at the same time. This is just one of the reasons we’ve long admired Andrea Faulkner Williams, co-founder and “head mama” at Tubby Todd Bath—who makes supporting other moms a priority and with whom we had the pleasure of sharing a 10-year business milestone with last year (we even jointly cut a cake to mark the occasion!).
Alongside her husband, the San Diego-dwelling mom of four (Josie, 14, Walker, 11, James, 9, and Andy, 6), founded Tubby Todd Bath in 2014—after years of looking for natural products that provided solutions for her little ones’ sensitive skin and deciding to create her own. Now a decade-plus in, they’ve rolled out countless products—from their best-selling All Over Ointment to fun seasonal drops and collabs. The latest is the Sweet Apple Fall Collection, just in time for all those back-to-school, autumnal feels.
Below, the busy mama and bath lover fills us in on her Mother Essentials of the moment—including Tubby Todd faves, comfy-cool fashion picks, and frequent phone calls with another MOTHER fave. Enjoy!
Altra Running Shoes. “Apparently a wide toe box for my chubby toes to breathe is what I’ve always needed to be able to hike and run for miles. These running shoes are game changers.” Women’s Torin 8, $150, Zappos.
Blue Agave Sriracha. “Our current go-to condiment for the whole family is made with clean ingredients and is yummy on tacos, eggs, sandwiches–everything.” Classic Sriracha Multipack, $30, Yellow Bird Foods.
Lioness Head in the Clouds Cardigan. “This is the first thing I have ever purchased in multiple colors. It is the perfect sweater. Period.” Head in the Clouds Cardigan, $69, Revolve.
Staud Dolce One Piece. “This suit has been my go-to this year for trips with the family, my husband, and friends. Perfectly sexy but keeps everything in place.” Staud Dolce One Piece, $215, Shopbop.
Camp Hollow Cake Toppers. “I recently discovered these heirloom cake toppers in a boutique gift shop. They are precious and make each birthday special.” Cake Topper, $40, Camp Hollow.
Armra Colostrum. “I am so obsessed with Armra. My family is very sick of hearing about it, but this has become the only supplement I take. I have seen an incredible increase in my immunity when I am consistent, not to mention my hair and skin.” Armra Colostrum Powder (2-Pack), $85.99, Amazon.
Tubby Todd Sweet Apple. “Our newest limited edition fragrance is the best way to bring fall into the bathroom. I love switching up our bathtime scents with the season. It makes ushering in each new season even more exciting and special.” Sweet Apple Fall Collection, $82, Tubby Todd.
Loeffler Randall Devon Slingback Sandals. “These will go down as my fave shoes ever. Comfortable, chic, and can be worn to the office, school pickup, and dinner out.” Devon Red Moiré Slingback Sandal, $295, Loeffler Randall.
Long Hikes With Girlfriends. “Approximately 4-5 times a week, I hit the trails behind my home or at the beach with a friend. We walk or run out the stress from work, kids, and our personal lives. These hikes are a truly sacred time in my week.”
Daily Phone Calls with Elle Rowley. “Every morning after dropping kids at school, I talk with my longtime bestie, Elle Rowley, for the 20-minute drive to work. Sometimes we discuss deep spiritual concerns and other times we strategize about our businesses. But many days we laugh about the crazy stuff our kids said the day before or the many appointments we have missed that week.”
Fresh Sends Flowers. “I have used them for every birthday, condolence, and thank you gift for the last year for loved ones–I’m obsessed with their punchy messages and packaging.” The Send, $79, Fresh Sends.
Tubby Todd Regulars Bundle. “When someone asks where they should start with Tubby Todd products, the answer is always The Regulars! It is a 3-step skincare solution that keeps the entire family clean and moisturized. We have one in every bathroom in our home.” The Regulars Bundle, $49, Tubby Todd.
A Facial from Shop Good. “Shop Good is a tightly curated collection of clean beauty products that I trust, and is my favorite local spot for an in-person facial. If you aren’t local to San Diego, you can purchase an At-Home Facial that is just as delightful.” At-Home Facial Packages, $115, Shop Good.
Walker Family Goods States Duffel Bag. “Six years ago, I gifted each of my kids a WFG bag for Easter. Now, when we pack for a trip, each of my kids gets out their own colored duffel and packs our trips. It has made them feel independent and responsible at a young age.” Duffel Bag, $88, Walker Family.
The Alter Ego Effect. “This book has taught me how to unlock another level of focus at home and at work. For me, it has taken the glimpses of strength I used to see throughout the day and helped me channel more consistent work. A must read.” The Alter Ego Effect: The Power of Secret Identities to Transform Your Life, $17.39, Amazon and Bookshop.
Line A Day Five Year Journal. “This journal was recommended to me by another mom. I still do occasional long form journaling, but most days all I have in me is a line at the end of the day. Even on the hardest days as a mom, it feels good to write down just one line of something that I want to always remember.” 5 Year Journal: One Line a Day, $28.95, Amazon.
